Choral Singing for Young People
in the Atlanta Area

Atlanta Midtown Youth Chorale

Scott Smith, Director

The William Baker Choral Foundation is sponsoring a new a cappella youth ensemble. With a target participation of 50 students between the ages of 13 and 18, the AMYC will focus on the development of choral skills including sightreading, choral blend, and overall vocal development. With an emphasis on music from both the written and oral traditions, students will be exposed to a variety of repertoire that will challenge and entertain. The AMYC will work with the student’s teachers where appropriate to explore opportunities for extracurricular work which will further develop the student’s knowledge of music theory as well as the historical background of composers, musical styles and lyrical context. Students from public, private, and home schools are welcomed.

The ensemble will be led by Choral Associate Scott C. Smith, who previously served as Assistant Director of the Youth Festival Singers of Atlanta. Mr. Smith is a longtime staff member of the William Baker Festival Singers and the Summer Singers of Atlanta, and is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Choral Foundation.

Rehearsals are Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:30 p.m. No audition is necessary. For more information, please call 404.881.9158 or e-mail mail@FestivalSingers.org.
