Applied Professional Choral Performance - Enrollment Limited to WBFS Members
Prerequisites
Successful completion of a competitive audition and acceptance as a member of the William Baker Festival Singers for the 2025–2026 season.
This course offers an immersive experience in professional-level choral artistry through active participation in the William Baker Festival Singers. Participants will perform advanced repertoire with stylistic integrity while applying healthy singing techniques grounded in voice science. Throughout the season, members will receive integrated instruction on vocal technique, ensemble leadership, and rehearsal strategies. Workshops and rehearsals will include teachable moments designed to support professional music educators and ensemble leaders in their practice. The course also consists of a choral singing “bootcamp,” and participation in two workshops, fall and spring, providing a concentrated introduction to core concepts of choral artistry and vocal health.
Assessment:
1. Successful candidates must meet all requirements described in the Festival Singers’ Member’s Handbook. 2. Students will complete a short weekly written check-in. 3. Students will completion of the MNU STAR Assessment at season’s end.
Credits:
Student’s may enroll for 1-3 Graduate Level Continuing Education Credits provided through MidAmerica Nazarene University at $90 per credit hours per Festival Singers season payable to the MidAmerica Nazarene University.
